Japan-Listed eole Becomes First Public Company in the…

Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market-listed eole Inc. has become the first publicly listed Japanese company to acquire Hyperliquid’s native HYPE token, marking another milestone in the growing institutional adoption of digital assets beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The company disclosed that it purchased 1,078.2547 HYPE on July 28 for approximately ¥10.08 million (about $61,600), paying an average price of ¥9,352.78 per token. eole also announced plans to expand its HYPE holdings through additional purchases before the end of August, targeting a total investment of ¥100 million (approximately $610,000). According to the company, the acquisition forms part of its broader “Neo Crypto Bank” initiative, a long-term strategy aimed at building blockchain-based financial infrastructure for an emerging economy in which artificial intelligence agents autonomously execute payments, contracts and financial transactions. HYPE will join Bitcoin as one of eole’s strategic treasury assets.

The purchase is notable because it represents the first publicly disclosed investment in Hyperliquid’s token by a Japanese listed company, expanding corporate crypto treasury strategies beyond the industry’s traditional focus on Bitcoin.

HYPE Added Alongside Bitcoin Treasury

Unlike many corporate treasury programs that concentrate exclusively on Bitcoin, eole said it selected Hyperliquid because of the blockchain’s suitability for autonomous AI agents and high-performance decentralized financial infrastructure.

Hyperliquid has emerged as one of the largest decentralized perpetual futures trading platforms, operating on its own purpose-built Layer-1 blockchain capable of processing thousands of transactions with low latency. The HYPE token underpins governance, staking and network incentives across the ecosystem. eole said its investment should not be viewed as a short-term speculative trade but rather as a strategic allocation supporting future Web3 and on-chain finance initiatives. The company intends to build its HYPE position gradually while monitoring market liquidity and price conditions before completing the planned ¥100 million allocation. The announcement reflects a broader trend among publicly listed companies increasingly diversifying their crypto reserves beyond Bitcoin as alternative blockchain ecosystems mature.

Corporate Interest in Alternative Crypto Assets Grows

Corporate cryptocurrency treasuries have expanded rapidly over the past year, although most companies have concentrated their holdings in Bitcoin due to its liquidity, regulatory clarity and institutional acceptance. More recently, firms have begun exploring other digital assets with specific technological or commercial use cases. Ethereum treasury strategies have gained momentum, while companies are increasingly evaluating tokens tied to decentralized finance, staking infrastructure and tokenized financial services.

For eole, the investment aligns closely with its AI-focused business strategy. The company argues that autonomous AI systems will require financial infrastructure capable of executing transactions without relying on traditional banking intermediaries, making blockchain-native settlement networks increasingly important. The move also highlights Japan’s evolving approach to corporate digital asset adoption. While the country’s listed companies have historically been cautious toward cryptocurrencies, institutional interest has gradually expanded alongside regulatory reforms and growing global acceptance of blockchain technology.

Although eole’s initial purchase remains relatively modest in financial terms, it establishes an important precedent. As the first Japanese listed company to publicly disclose HYPE holdings, it may encourage other domestic firms to consider digital assets beyond Bitcoin as they develop long-term blockchain and artificial intelligence strategies.
